Soft Morning Alpenglow Print
Have you ever marveled at the rosy colors of the mountains when the sun is just beginning to peek over the horizon? For a few moments at dawn the highest peaks are illuminated by the soft light as it’s reflected through atmospheric particles to give the mountains a magical glow.
Late one spring, I was out for my early morning walk and saw this beautiful scene over the Rockies. The very tippy top of Mount Evans and the surrounding peaks were a delicate gold, then transitioned to coral, pink, and violet down the sides of the mountains. The colors were simply stunning on the snow-capped front range.
It was a morning with low clouds hovering right above the horizon with noticeable rays of light that seemed to extend from the alpenglow of the peaks. I could hardly believe my eyes! It only lasted a brief while, and then it was gone, yet so unbelievably gorgeous that I wanted to share! My painting, “Soft Morning Alpenglow” was born.
