Refreshing, Inspiring Moments of SpringSpring is here! What a beautiful time of inspiration and fresh new beginnings. I'm starting to see pairs of bluebirds and hear the meadowlarks sing on my daily walks. As the sunshine warms the Earth and little green shoots begin to peek out, it brings a huge smile to our hearts. Over the last year, I've taken some time to slow down and find quiet space to rest and recharge. Nature has always been my sanctuary where I can be at peace. Nestled in the natural world, I feel calm, cared for, and connected to something much bigger. Any challenges I have seem to drift away for a little while in the present moment. In 2025, I had a chance to go on some lovely hikes and nature walks. Here are a few photos of the special places I was lucky enough to visit. In celebration of nature and the pretty new season, here's to a magical spring! A time to breathe deeply, listen to cheerful birdsong, and refresh our spirits! With a happy spring smile, Conservation CornerAs we celebrate the inspiring spring season, it's a great time to put up a bird house or two to give your feathered friends a safe place to nest. There are bird houses for bluebirds, wrens, and my favorite, chickadees! There are also cool birdhouses for raptors, like kestrels and owls too. Placing a bird bath in your garden is a wonderful addition to your outdoor space as well. How much fun to watch birds splash around while they're taking a refreshing bath! Plus we're providing them a clean, fresh water source for drinking and wetting their whistle! Audubon has some awesome bird houses, feeders, and baths to add to your yard, plus you're supporting their amazing conservation work. Here's a link to check it out. Duncraft is a family-owned business and remains a leader in all things birds. The link to their website is here. And your local garden store is also an excellent source for bird items, as well as native plants and wildflowers. So let's enjoy helping our beloved birds thrive this season! Earth Day DrawingI'm excited for this year's Earth Day drawing! On April 22, I'll draw a new name to receive a free print from studio d'une! Everyone who receives Nature Notes is automatically included in the pool for the drawing and I'll share the winner's first name on my Facebook page in April. Good luck to all! Happy Spring! Please leave a comment below! I'd love to hear from you!

How magnificent to see Nature Notes this Spring, thank you for the gift. Wonderful to see one of my favorite paintings at the top, I so miss the Little Darby, and the Big Darby for that matter too. Love the pictures of your blessed hikes. Oh my, how beautiful the cobalt blue bird bath and flowers beside it, how a small space and ingenuity can do so much for our natural world, hearts and souls. Thank you so much for sharing so much!!

Thank you so much, Dawn! I miss Little Darby and Big Darby too. I remember all the wonderful times we had doing educational programs, cleaning up the floodplain, and just relaxing by the creeks. Very special. Wishing you a lovely spring season, my friend!

HI Rebecca! What a lovely Nature Notes! It's so nice to "see" you online. I love your passion for conservation and the land, and your reminders about the birds reminded me of my son - many years ago - who put bird seed on the bottom of his sneaker while leaning upside down against a tree - to feed the nuthatches! :-) Happy Spring!

Hi Lynn! Thanks for your sweet note. It warms my heart to learn about how your son was so in tune with the nuthatches and how he creatively fed them. How much fun! Many thanks to you for your passion for nature and everything you do to protect our natural areas. You inspire me! Happy spring, dear friend! And here's to lots of rain in our future! : )

With love and appreciation for the natural world, I'm inspired to share how plants and animals are connected to one another, to their ecosystem homes, and to people around the world. I bring into visual form the concept of biodiversity and the unity of all life. I hope my art helps you feel your own special connection to the land, the water, and all precious life on Earth. In our connection, lies hope. ~ Rebecca Archives
