Every Day is Earth Day!For me, it can be worrisome and disheartening to hear all the news about climate change, land use alteration, pollution, extinction of species...the list goes on and on. In these fast-paced times, some folks may have forgotten their connection to the natural world. This is the big reason I rekindled my art back in the 90s. I wanted to help people visually understand the concept of biodiversity and inspire them to explore a renewed relationship with nature. So today, I've decided not to let gloom-and-doom forecasts steal my joy or hinder the actions I take to conserve the natural world. No step is without impact, whether it's picking up trash along the trail, planting a tree, recycling, or simply turning off the light when we're not in a room. Every positive action makes a difference! And when we share our love for the natural world, we inspire others to love nature, too! Thanks for being here! Happy Earth Day to all! "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." ~ Margaret Mead, cultural anthropologist Care for Our Beloved Natural WorldIn the spirit of hope and positive steps, I'm happy to share these "signs" of people caring for nature on the Cherry Creek Trail near my home. I bet there are signs where you live as well! Look closely. The wheel is turning for conservation and positive action! Every day's a good day to celebrate Earth Day! And the winner is...Bonnie Harris from Los Angeles wins the 1st Annual Earth Day Drawing! RebeccaIn love with the natural world, I'm inspired to share how species are connected to each other, to their ecosystem homes, and to people around the world. An eternal optimist, I bring into visual form the concept of biological diversity and what it means to be connected to the whole...to all life on Earth. In our connection lies hope. Archives
